    Inflatable vs. CCF

So I currently have a Klymit insulated static V and have just ordered a DL hammock from dutchware. I also have the Walmart eggcrate CCF pad. Wanted to know who prefers which type of pad to which. I have a camping trip coming up soon and wanted to know which I should use. I know for ground the Klymit is way more comfortable but I wasn't sure about the hammock.

Also was wondering about the width of the Klymit. Its 23" wide and I cant find a SPE for it. The ENO hotspot says it only fits 20" pads. For this reason I wasn't sure if I would need to use the Walmart CCF pad as it is wider. However, this isn't a concern at the moment as the nights are around 65-70 degrees currently.

Depends on if you ever have to go to ground and what the surface is, rocks or cacti can kill a inflatable pretty fast.

I personally like CCF pads and have been using them for years. Many dislike them so I know I am in the minority on this. But unless it is crazy hot I prefer sleeping with a CCF pad in the hammock with me. I haven't tried a Klymit pad in a hammock but did try a Thermarest and hated it - the Thermarest wouldn't stay put and was too narrow.

For me this summer the ccf works much better than my thermarest. Stays in place better between the double layer in my bbxlc than the inflatable.

I have found ccf to be much better in the hammock.

I have both. A custom ordered ccf pad and the Klymit V. By far the Klymit V is more comfortable. Even fully inflated it remains flexible. The Klymit pad in a hammock is more comfortable than my $1500 bed.

I just made a DL 11ft hammock. I was quite surprised that the Klymit pad was more comfortable and stable under me vs between the layers. The ccf pad was just the opposite, better between the layers. But... still not as comfortable as the Klymit.

My next DIY project is to make a sleeve with 10" wings on both side for the ccf. That will easily take me down to 30 degrees. I ain't going out there when its colder than that!

I have 3/16 x 40 x 72 gossamer gear and/or oware pad. It's too big for hiking unless it's in a separate bag lashed to back of pack. In a double layer hammock it's impossible to slide out from under me. And when it's really cold I use both under quilt and pad along with top quilt. Good luck.
