    This is getting expensive...

I started out looking for a 4 person camo tent. I found myself looking at a green $400 snugpak cave, since a quality camo tent is hard to find. I thought that was so expensive. Then I read a few people saying hammocks are more comfortable. I started looking at $30-$50 hammocks, and that quickly went to $220 or so. Well here is where I'm at, with 5 hammocks, and 3 tarps for the family:

    2x Warbonnet Multicam Ridgerunners $450

3x Simply Light Designs Multicam Trail Lair with HyperD and better zipper upgrades: $765

    3 underquilts @ about $275 each.

I need 3 multicam winter haven tarps, which at 12 ft long, with all features, are $300 each from Simply Light Designs! That equals $588 per person

I like the simply light tarps because they offer 1.1 silnylon in the multicam, but that material is ridiculous expensive. I checked out some startups, but was scared of the quality after seeing a closeup that they were showing off. I MUST have multicam, so the premium I am paying is my fault, but does anyone know a less expensive winter haven type 1.1 multicam tarp?

Not sure if it's still available in Multicam but the Superfly is very, very popular here.

I feel your multicam pain. It's definitely my favorite fabric pattern and once I started with it, everything had to match, lol. The licensing fees and extra production work involved with it, from what I understood, make its cost ridiculous.

If it's getting a little too costly, this could be one of those times diy'ing could actually save you considerable costs. A lot would depend on your time and skills, but there are some decent fabric opportunities if you look hard enough. I'm very Ebay skeptical typically but another forum member recommended purchase through RRT trading post. I picked up some 2nds fabric that I can't find the flaws in.
If you're up to the task you could try and pick some of the 1.5 or 1.1 ounce multicam and do a diy silicone impregnating of it. Might be a little heavier than the factory sil, but it would be a considerable cost savings. I did a small Asym using the design at diygearsupply and did my own silicone coating for a friend. Final product works like a champ. Just received a shipment today to do one for myself in fact.

The obvious question to ask is: why do you NEED multi-cam?

    Can get 3 Superfly's for $390, vs 3 M/C winter Haven's for $900...

Otherwise you gotta pay to play. M/C silnylon fabric at RSBTR is $17.50 a linear yard. Vs $5.95 for all other color's.

I definitely wouldn't pay that price just because I think it's cool. These hammocks and tarps are for a real survival situation that we see coming when this country falls. Stealth could be the difference between life and death. When it's our time, it's our time, but we want to survive until then.

I found multicam looking tents on amazon that make me want to cry because of how cheap it would be to go tent. They are not the quality I would like to last through any weather, but if a SOLID multicam tent was made, I wouldn't have got camo hammocks just based on $$$$.

    Camping.jpg

Here I am camping this weekend. I got caught in a monsoon, and took on water since I only brought a poncho tarp which didn't cut it.

    Camping tips:
    1. Check the weather.
    2. Bring a big enough tarp.
    3. Bring enough water.
    4. Don't drink rainwater before filtering.
    5. Don't assume you'll have sun to charge cell
    6. Don't leave hammock in woods 2 hours away! Lol
    7. See tip 1!
