    Seam sealing

Hello all. Bear with me now. Got into hammock camping about a year a go even though I have not officially camped over night in one but will just take the system to try it out. The question I do have is I have the SuperFly by Warbonet and love it. Thought I was crazy when I first got it but just love it. Is it hard to seam seal the pullouts? Lucky for me it has not rained when I was out but I would like to seam seal it. Can anyone recommend some seal seal and is it hard to apply? Thanks for any input.

SilNet is the sealer you want. We stock it in our tarps section. It's easy to apply. For the pullouts just lay ther tarp someplace flat. Over a table works well then use the brush included to give the stitching an even coat of sealed and let dry for 6-8 hours...air flow from a small fan can reduce that a bunch.

I used Permatex flowable silicone on mine as well. You can find it in automotive parts stores.

I also use permatex. Sealed about 6 tarps so far. Worked much better than any of the actual seam sealers I tried.

+1 Permatex is cheaper at auto parts store by 30%. (its the same stuff different label its used for windshield cracks) Cut the coned tube at an angle and as small as you can get material out of it. Be sure you tarp is hung and stretched out good and tight. Go slow and keep your hands clean if you get some on them smoothing it out if you gobbed in on accidentally. Let IT DRY. reapply if needed. On the superfly I went around the v between the fabric and then on top of the stitched thread and filled in the inside of the V on the tie outs, turned out perfect. I only sealed the inside, and the stitch line outside, (you can see the shine so be extra super careful if that is an issue.)

Awesome!! I thought I had to buy some fancy crap. I already have a ton of this stuff from driving a beat up old leaky car.

    Right on!

No leaks on mine and there are plenty of others with the same experience. The key is using silicone on silnylon. Seamgrip wouldn't work on silnylon since it is meant for PU coated materials.

When you say 'pullouts' on the SF, does everyone mean the 'V' stitching on the side walls...or...the corner 'pullouts? Used my over the weekend in a rain storm and stayed dry, but will add the insurance just in case.
