Now i messed up, pulled the splitring on my Superfly

Yep, managed to break one of the splitrings on my beloved SF when tightening the guy lines!

Never ever heard of this happening?

    Looks like a 9.....

Temporarily fixed this with a Zing-it loop, but i love the splitrings an wonder i anybody knows where to get some new ones?

For the record, i wasn't over tightening the lines, just like i've always done to get a tight pitch...

Actually, that's a good thing! The split ring is the weak link in the system. The dyneema lines certainly aren't going to break, so the rings go before the expensive tarp goes RIP! Put a few extra split rings in your 1st aid kit.

The thing that puzzles me is that i didn't tighten the tarp overly much.

Maybe the ring got itself turned so the webbing that forms the loop on the SF had worked itself outwards on the ring....

I pulled one of mine into a very odd shape under the same circumstances. Haven't really looked for a replacement, just kind of praying that it finally breaks for good when I'm doing something in the yard and not in the woods. I'd like to get some spares some time.

Dutch was planning on getting them... dunno what happened with that.

I had a BeastieD d ring break on me a couple weeks ago. I always have my tarp TIGHT though. Definitely better breaking a split ring or D ring than ripping the tarp or the pull out.

You can buy a whole bunch of them for something like $5 at michaels, or any other craft store probably.

Fwiw I tried using them, and had it fail the same way. Replaced it with a stainless steel s-biner (the smallest keyring size)

If the ones at Michael's (in Sweden?) are not stainless, fishing tackle stores sell them in a few sizes.

Watch the quality when buying replacements. Sometimes things look the same but on closer inspection or use, they do not work very well.

I'm surprised Dutch hasn't released titanium split rings yet.
