Lawson reflective cord for whoopie style ridgeline?

I would like to make a whoopie style, adjustable structural ridgeline. Is the Lawson reflective cord good for this? When reading about this cord, I keep running into these words, "ability to melt into the jacket". What does that mean? Is it still hollow core, and can you burry the fixed loop, and the adjustable loop?

I don't believe you can slice Lawson reflective cord.

EDIT: I meant to say, "cannot" :embarrassed:

It does not have a hollow core and you cannot splice it.

Okay, so that is out. I have made whoopies out of dynaglide and amsteel, and I prefer working with amsteel. I have heard of people using Zing-it for adjustable ridgeline, but is it harder to splice than dynaglide?

Harder to splice Zing-It, yes. But still do-able. I used YouTube videos posted by Ian Young for directions on my Amsteel continuous loops, Dynaglide whoopies, and Lash-It fixed ridgeline. I have spliced Zing-It for my tarp's continuous ridgeline.

I strip a Cat5 network cable to extract the 8 solid wires, untwist a pair, and fold one of the wires in half to use as a fish tool. Nice and small for Zing-It and Lash-It.

I have spliced a lot of 1.7mm Zing-it. Not really that much harder as long as you have an appropriately small tool or wire.

Your verbiage was right the first time, otherwise wise it would have to read... You cannot slice

I have used Ian's videos for whoopies and continuous loops too. I see that he has a video for a fixed length ridgeline, but not an adjustable one. I think it is just a longer whoopie sling, right?

I have a whoopie that I have started for an adjustable ridgeline, and have the fixed loop done, but I don't know how far to measure for the bury start and stop, on the adjustable side.

I will be using this adjustable ridgeline on both an ENO Doublenest 9'4", and a Simply Light Designs, Tree Runner SL in 10' (will measure for sure when it arrives).

I've spliced as much Zing-It as I have Amsteel and Dynaglide. I use a piece of Cat 5 wire and it splices fairly easily. I've always preferred adjustable ridgelines (though I never adjust them once they're set).

I've found zing it easier to splice than dynaglide, there are less strands and the weave is looser. A little more difficult than amsteel though.
