Much as I like being remembered and referenced, the SRS wasn't my idea. It generated a lot of discussion when it was first introduced, I managed to natter on about it for 21+ minutes in that video you linked to, with the end result being a somewhat muted "I don't like what the Amsteel ends up looking like when squished this way" .... but you might have to sit through all 21 minutes complete with computer simulations to get to the punch line. Brevity not being a common characteristic of professors, you know ...

I tried this out last night on my indoor set up. I like it very much, simple, light, and secure! I have been using two rings for the last year, they can and do slip. With the two ring set up, once I had the suspension where I wanted it, I would feed the tag end through the ring as a lock and then put a slippery half hitch in it. With this single ring set up, that's not necessary at all.
This will be my "go to" set up now.

I believe they are called decender rings? they are on Amazon or REI I've also attached a pic of the dual ring set up off my Vertx, with the lock, that the single ring will replace.
