Since seeing the Amok design I have always thought with a few changes and two side by side pads it could become the often asked about "hammock for two". I don't think I have the time or the skills but just throwing the idea out there.

Thanks Becky! One thing about the foot box - it does not support your legs. By pushing against the fabric with one leg/foot you can rest the other. But I will tell you it's very comfortable to do this and it gives your feet a much needed rest after a long hike. I've sat like that for 2.5hrs reading a book in that chair without any discomfort.
The original idea came to me from Pips in my original build thread. I'll see if I can find the link to that...
Here it is: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ght=camp+chair
Check out post #15. Pips shows a picture of his hammock add-on.

Texas, all I can say is that I am truly inspired to tinker with my hammock now. Thanks for sharing these pics!

Not exactly like that, but my friend HOI has what he calls the A.S.S. (A Simple Sling) chair. He has been sleeping in a modified one for years because he can't stand the shoulder pressure anymore in a normal hammock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXOFR1DjRRw
I have romanced this idea off and on for years. Ultimately, four suspension points, one at each corner would solve most of this designs small but bothersome problems. But not the one of finding four trees. You might explore a triangular design with feet towards one of the points in it. At least that brings it down to three trees, solves the center of gravity issue, but still allows a somewhat flat lay. However in this scenario the foot end would be suspended somewhat lower than the two head-end suspensions to achieve a more comfortable lay. Hell of a hammock to cover with a tarp though!

Great video. I love the ending.
HOI also used a foot rope when sitting in a GE hammock. That's one of the things that inspired me to try right angle hammocks.
