    DIY Overcover/bugnet combo build

Alex from Sheltowee provided me with drawings based on his overcover. I modified it and with his permission I wanted to share with you the design. I live in Central Oregon and even in summer the nights can get into the 30's in the mountains so this is a good option to avoid carrying a bugnet and overcover. I have included a build diagram and photos.
    RSBTR .5 oz bugnet
    RSBTR .6 membrane nylon
    Velcro
    shock cord
    cord lock

    Love to get input.

I like it. Did you use it in the mountains yet?

That's a great idea and very nice looking piece of gear. I appreciate you sharing, especially the diagram.

Got a look at the diagram earlier on my pc, but phone I'd giving me headaches trying to open it right now, so forgive me if it's on there...Did you have a final weight for this?

also, how was working with rsbtr's membrane for this? Was it easy to incorporate and work with?

Forgot to bring the gram scale home from work. Will post weights soon.
The membrane sil was good to work with. Really no difference than other fabrics. That said I do use a walking presser foot for all my gear making. The .5oz bugnet was definitely more challenging. I am still trying to "perfect" my sewing when combining bugnet with fabric. I get a bunch look. It made me appreciate the .9 bugnet material. However, I can deal with cosmetic imperfections for the weight loss.

Thank you for sharing. I have been thinking about a way to combine a overcover and bug netting. I have started Hanging in your area and the equipment I need is a bit different than what I use when Hanging on the coast. I really need the netting now, plus I like the OC, your concept works better than what I was thinking about. You saved me a lot of wasted fabric.

Glad to help. That is what this forum is about. I have learned so much from other generous members and our great vendors like Alex at Sheltowee and so many others.

Excuse my ignorant question, but do you cover the bugnet section if it rains with a tarp or ??? Love the concept and directions!!!

The over over is meant to add some warmth and bug protection along with privacy. Always use a dedicated tarp for rain protection. Great question.
