Good report. You had a good walking speed imo. I have discovered those 10+ mile days tear my feet up...need to lighten my pack by 10 lbs. or so. :-)

Great report Dave!! It was nice to see some variety of photos. After seeing the same photos over and over and over on Mlive or Pure Michigan's facebook page, you'd think this place only consisted of one arched rock formation in the lake! Snow in May, I love it! 209 days until winter

Great report. My wife and I hiked the Chapel Rock loop years ago (before we had kids). It is one of my favorite hikes. Plenty of cool things to see. Miner's castle is pretty awesome too. We attempted to kayak around there, but the waves were a little big and I wasn't ready for that kind of rocking of the boat. Munising Falls brings back so many memories. I lived in the neighborhood about 20 years ago and would hike down there all the time.

I need to get back up there to do this same trip someday soon.

Glad everyone enjoyed my long winded, picture heavy trip report . As promised, I'm following it up with the long winded video version, so join me again for the next 24 minutes on my trip through Pictured Rocks:

Excellent TR. Will be going there mid-September, using this for planning. How did the .gpxtrek work out?

I'd aim för the Chapel beach, mosquito river, beaver creek area. Great scenery and you could go in at Miners Beach or somewhere in the Beaver Basin Wilderness area. Summers are pretty busy there but plan b could be Grand island out in the bay. Not a lot of use, views of PIRO and kayak only sites. Enjoy.

Great report. Thanks for taking the time to put these together.

I got out there with the kids for a trip from Log Slide to Munising in the middle of June. We got lucky with the bugs as well and had a great trip.
