Hammeck is a nice stand.
Hammeck is a nice stand.
I also have a Hammeck stand. It is great in the desert where there aren't many trees. I have an 11 foot hammock and I weigh 285. I sleep like a baby in that thing.
Thee Ultimate Hang reviewed the Handy Hammock stand and gave instructions on how to alter it to use your own hammock.
No it doesn't, you can buy the 'Double Strut Kit (Without Hammock)' and save 10 pounds (I'm talking UK currency, not weight).
There is no reason you couldn't remove the line that goes between the 2 bases and replace it with some Zing-it (or whatever) that is a bit longer, or as mentioned use one pole & base and a tree.
I bought the Handy Hammock stand for motorcycle camping and it has served its purpose quite well for me. Some of the other stands are just too big/heavy for motorcycle camping so they are not suitable for my requirements.
Is it even possible to buy a Handy Hammock stand? I try to order and the site returns the equivalent of 'eh', tells me my order failed. Mail to the contact person on the site goes unanswered, and the last update was to the effect that they're on vacation - in August 2015!
I sent them an email through their website and also a pm through here sometime late last year and never heard back. sounds like they're still not being responsive, which makes me assume they're no longer actively selling or supporting their stand.
Interesting, I ordered mine back in July and it arrived fairly quickly.
I have to wonder if sales were just too slow and it wasn't worth the vendor's while to continue, that's a sad thought to me because I love having the ability to hang and be comfortable even in places where there are no trees.
Maybe it is a great idea but just not popular enough?
Sad. Now I wish I'd ordered it when I first saw it...
i thought about putting mine up for sale, but knowing it's not sold anymore makes me want to keep mine as a collectible item.
Tato. Might be the best option out there.
