    Bottom insulation question

So I'm looking for cheap bottom insulation that's good for low to mid 50s (F) weather. I can't afford an underquilt at the moment so I'm looking for a pad. Something just to knock off the chill. What does everyone recommend? Inflatable or CCF? And what dimensions seem to work the best?

I made my first insulation from Reflux from Lowes. It came in 2' wide so I used the aluminum tape to make it a little wider. Worked good until I could get an underquilt.

The good old blue pad at your local Walmart is the cheapest way to go.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

    I'll offer this up.
When I used pads I preferred my Thermarest Prolite underinflated.

I've heard a lot of people say that they aren't quite wide enough.

When I can afford it, I'm looking at the Jarbridge River UQ. What is the general consensus on it? Anyone have experience with it?

Have you considered a PLUQ (Poncho Liner Under Quilt)?

I'm in the process of making 2 myself, b/c I can't afford a "real" underquilt. Total cost is under $50 each.

It's probably the best bang for your buck uq. It's good down to the 20* but you'll probably need a small pad for your feet since it's 3/4. It packs down pretty well from what I've seen. Looks like it's the same size as a 1 gallon bottle stuff and probably smaller compressed.
