72" hammock fabric - 1.6 oz HyperD XL

The widebody hammock fabric is here, and it's called 1.6 oz HyperD XL . After listening to numerous members and several vendors make their case for wider hammock fabric, we thought it was time. What we've developed is a custom woven, 72" version of our original 60" wide 1.6 oz HyperD diamond ripstop. When I say custom woven, I do mean custom. We started with the yarn, determined the warp/weft construction, setup the loom, and we've been weaving for some time now.

I know a lot of folks have been waiting for this, so I have decided to do a limited PRE-SALE on the first 100 yds of each color (see below for colors). If a color runs out, I won't add anymore until all the goods are in because things will be too crazy. So, if you know you want/need a wider hammock fabric, I encourage you to act quickly. In addition to being in the front of the line, you can save some cash. Order during the PRE-SALE and get the discounted price of only $5.95 /yd.

We're dying the fabrics now and expected delivery date to us is about 30 days. No guarantees, but I am trying hard to get partial delivery of a roll or two slightly before that to fill PRE-SALE orders. I know a lot of people are making/buying hammocks right now, so I want to get this fabric to you ASAP.

So that's it. No more narrow hammocks. Thanks to everyone for their continued support and let me know if you have questions.

72" hammock fabric - 1.6 oz HyperD XL

Wow. I was just perusing the RSBTR web sight and saw the page refresh with the new width selections. I know there will be many happy to see this new line.

Thanks for the innovation! Maybe this isn't the right place to ask, but what is the case for a wider hammock? I only ever see people argue that width is more or less irrelevant one you get past a minimum threshold.

It's super relevant for me. I'm 6'5", 230. I just can't get comfy in anything less than 64 (finished). This fabric will allow me to pull the trigger on a hammock I've been waiting a while to order. My current favorite hammocks are my 12' X 72" 1.9 DL and my 11' X 66" (before hems) 1.1 DL.

None of the 58-60" hammocks do it for me.

Is it that you can't get diagonal enough?

I'm not sure I've ever felt fully confident with the "why." It's probably about the diagonal at least somewhat. I'm also a very restless sleeper who is always flipping over and around. I'm also a very cold sleeper, so that's just another level of complexity that means I need to really nail down the comfort level of any position I'm in at any given moment.

Wider fabric gives me some more margin for error or a bigger sweet spot, less chance my TQ will flop out (in a netless hammock), and more room for occasionally bunched up insulation to not bother me.

I wish it were a simple answer. All I know is that I have 10-ish hammocks, including several of the most popular cottage brands on here, and 2 of them stand out significantly from the rest.

I do know that I look at a Shug video (for example), and can't believe how he just lays there for 6 or 8 hours in the same position all night. Or if I really analyze any photo of random dude on the internet, laying in his hammock, I notice his body is often sort of curved, like the side of the hammock that is pressing on his face is pushing it off of center. Homey don't play that.
