    Mayan hammock help

Hello, my name is Jóhann and I´m from Iceland. Not your typical hammock place! I´m new to this forum, found it when searching the web on how to fix my Mayan hammock. The pure existence of this forum brought a big smile to my face I think this is amazing!

Anyway, here´s the issue. I got this Mayan hammock in Mérida, Yucatan a few years back. It is a great hammock, big and cozy. When not in use, I have it hung up on one carabiner, off the side of one wall. Recently one of the cords got pulled out by the carabiner. I tried to fix it but it only got worse! Now numerous cords have been pulled out because I mistakenly tried to fix it. I was wondering if anyone here has experience on similar issues or any suggestions on how to fix this? Images of the setup and the pulled out cords are attached.

    Best, Jóhann

Hi Jofurgi, Welcome to the forum!

I have to say I don't know exactly what to do; I've only had to retie a loose knot and untangle the ends.

However, in saying that, I do know that Mayan hammocks are woven in threes.

    This might help you:

It says, "The weaving pattern is “under two, over and around one.”

So figure out where in the weave they're pulled out and simply continue the weave pattern.

Thanks a lot for this Singingcrowsings, I appreciate your answer The link you provided has a great detail of information! I haven´t tried any further fixing so far, just in case I mess up, but your suggestion sounds logical. I will certainly check this out and see if I can fix it. Would be nice to get the hammock up and hanging for the summer

    Best wishes,

    Jóhann

Well, good luck in fixing it! If you can do it, it will definitely be worth it. I love my Mayan!

Let us know how it goes.
