Titanium cinch buckles and slippery half hitch

Anyone know if a slippery half hitch is needed with the titanium cinch buckles?

Just to put an unnecessary oar in the water, I have used the original cinch buckles quite a lot. From time to time a bit of slippage would occur, or perhaps a lot of slippage, depending on the thickness of the strap I was using. I bought a pair of the Ti cinch buckles when Dutch first offered them, and I have used them with different straps and so far they simply have not slipped at all. I totally enjoy the freedom from worry about slips, and as I am able will phase this new buckle into all of my suspensions. It cannot turn sideways, doesn't slip, looks cool. No brainer for me. I am not the heaviest hanger out there, but my 230lbs. hangs safely.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

I am using my Ti cinch buckles with the Kevlar straps. I just make sure to pull tightly on the continuous loop that goes to my hammock and make sure everything is tight. I do use a slippery half hitch with the Kevlar straps, but then I used one with the my Warbonnet cinch buckles too. They have not slipped and are holding well. That said I don't think Dutch really recommends using the Kevlar straps with the Ti cinch buckles. Some of us are just rebels though.

I put kevlar straps on the Ti cinch buckles this week and agree with Dutch. It kind of works but I don't intend to continue doing it after trying it once.

FWIW a slippery half hitch as a keeper is such cheap insurance I really do not see why anyone would not do it. If you don't need it the knot serves as a way to bundle excess strap and comes right out. If it is tight in the morning you needed it. ;-)
    YMMV

I'm going to be a rebel and try using them with Kevlar straps. I've been using AHE buckles with the Kevlar just fine as long as I pay attention while adjusting. I only asked about the half hitch since I have shorter Kevlar straps than my poly and I ran into a situation with my AHE buckles where I only had a few inches left after going around the tree. And to be honest it's nice to know they will hold if I forget

maybe i missed it, but i always thought he said kevlar straps and the titanium bugs were a bad idea, but the cinch buckles were fine (HERE he says they work great). if i knew how soft and pliable the kevlar straps are, which causes them to easily twist and get snagged, i would have gone with a different strap too.

Exchange them, I want you to be happy with the gear you use.

I agree. Takes about 5 seconds to tie one at both ends and is quite useful for gathering up the excess strap material. I tie them on my Blackbird suspension every time. Haven't needed it, but it's cheap and useful insurance.
