    Jarbridge for a first UQ?

I recently started getting more use out of my ENO hammocks and am considering camping and maybe backpacking as future hobbies. I've gone back and forth on whether to save some money on this first purchase or just go all out and not need anything else. I'm thinking a jarbridge 3 season would suit my needs for now and it looks like no one on these forums has ever regretted that purchase. I figure it would make for a good backup for anyone else that goes with me after I get a nice down UQ later. I'm eager to get something and try sleeping outside, the nights have been chilly even here in Bama. So my questions are, for backpacking with maybe a 60 L backpack on 2 or 3 day trips, would the jarbridge take up too much space and what's yall's thoughts on starting with the jarbridge? I really think I would prefer not using a pad other than under my feet. Thanks for the feedback.

I started with the Jarbidge and still use it. It works well enough to allow me to upgrade other things such as my tarp, top quilt, backpack, and other things. Jarbidges sell on here with little loss. It is easy enough to sell one back at $85-90 when you are ready to upgrade (or keep it for a friend). The jarbidge is lightweight for synthetic since it is only a 3/4 quilt. I keep mine in my stuff sack and put my top quilt in the bottom of the pack freely. Starting with a jarbidge will hone your skills of adjusting the quilt to prevent cold spots and will probably help make your next purchase a wiser one, based on experience. The 3-season can be tightened up to help you in the high 30's or loosened up to allow some ventilation in the 70's. I think you will love your purchase.

I can do 3-4 days in my 50 litter pack with a Jarbidge without any trouble. A 60 liter pack would still have plenty of room for weekend trips.

Get the Jarbidge. It may be the only quilt you will ever need or want. I got the New River only because I didn't want to mess with an extra piece of lower leg insulation. But that is no big deal and may not even be needed some of the time.

Thanks guys, exactly the kinds of answers I was looking for. Now just gotta decide on the color and order it tonight or tomorrow. Anyone know the usual time it takes to receive it after ordering?

It's a good quilt, it holds its value, it makes a good loaner, and it'll fit in your backpack. Your logic is sound.

Just be sure to test it a bit before you rely on it. I got cold in the 40s the first night I used my Jarbidge because the suspension wasn't dialed in quite right. UQs are trickier to rig than you might expect.

I've got one that I picked up a few months back and I love it. Paul was awesome to work with, he even let me bother him a little so that I could get it in time for a trip I was going on then. Its a very light weight quilt for being synthetic and so warm and it packs down very well. All in all I haven't regretted the purchase at all and I have a feeling that you won't either. As far as pack size goes I have a 45L pack and have done several 3-4 day trips with this UQ.

Did an overnighter this weekend with my jarbridge. It performed very well and in my osprey volt 60 I have plenty of room for way more food.

I'll probably place my order tonight when I get out of my hammock to go inside. When I get it, I won't be run inside by cool air :-) Thanks for the time interval, I like the interaction with those that I'll be buying from on these forums.
