Canadian Looking for a Tarp for my hammock Roo!

Hi fellow Hammock Campers, looking for a little advice on purchasing a tarp for my hammock. I need a tarp before the end of June i am looking currently at the ENO House fly the superfly or the OES 4 season. I am not much of a winter camper but i have a habit of camping in torrential side ways rain. The warbonnet superfly looked appealing but the shipping timeframe might be an issue for me the Canadian american dollar is also not helping my cause. Also can you get enough protection from the rain in a tarp without doors on it? I am new to this Hammock camping. Thanks in advance.

I feel bad for you Canadiens with your customs issues and such. Of the options you listed, I'd rank them in the following order:

    1) Superfly - One of the most popular hammock tarps and for good reason.
    2) OES - Solid quality but customer service has been spotty in the past. I'm not sure if that's resolved.
    3) ENO Housefly - overpriced, heavy, and not a good value.

Yeah my only problem is the superfly has a 3-4 week before it ships currently. Does anyone know if OES has better customer service now? There tarps look well built

Check on Underground Quilts or Wilderness Logics lead times. Both have excellent products and service as well.

Try contacting Firesong here on the forum. I believe he does custom orders in Canada

It's definitely worthwhile to contact Firesong. I just went backpacking with him a couple of weeks ago and it sounds like he's going to start making tarps. Not sure how far he's gone with that.

You could also take a look at Simply Light Designs. Jared is more than willing to do custom orders and already supports silpoly. He'll ship it USPS so that it's likely to clear customs without any extra charges. Doesn't help much with the exchange rate though.

unknowndemon - where in Alberta are you from?

The OES is a good tarp. Hope you get it on time. When I had one the ends did not close in as well as the Superfly since it is a rectangular shape with cat cuts along the edges. It may have changed though. Still is a very well made tarp.
