    Snake skins & stuff sack

Hey all, today I finally got to putting all of my Zing-it rigging lines on my new Old Man Winter tarp. I put on the new mesh snake skins as well and attempted to put back in the provided stuff sack. How in the world do you get that to fit back in there? Due to darkness I only tried twice but it does not look promising. I've read here that many do and was wondering how?...without buying a larger stuff sack.

I put snake skins on my cloud burst tarp and everything fits in the original stuff sack no problem.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

Have you tried packing the middle of tarp into the stuff sack first?

Stuff to the sides, always push it down into the side of the stuff sack, it should all go in that way.

I tried going without snakeskins for weight savings - gave up. After the tarp is in the snakeskins, I start rolling it from one end until it looks like a cinnamon bun. That forces all the air out. Then I wrap the ridgeline around it. It's a tight fit into the stuff sack.

I've thought about dumping the stuff suck entirely, but it really does help compress the tarp. Besides, I have a cuben fiber stuff sack and it's not exactly killing my pack weight.

I do this as well, and then work from the center of the tarp out towards the ends folding in chunks that are about the length of my stuff sack. It all fits in the stock sack just fine for me, it just takes a little wrestling to get there.

    I tried it two ways.
    1) Folded the skins in half and starting stuffing. I didn't pay much attention to how I stuffed, I just know that I quickly ran out of room.
    2) Folded in half and rolled it up like SilvrSurfr mentioned, like a cinnamon bun. I got more in there but also ran out of room.

    I'll keep trying.

As others have said, I stuff mine starting in the middle of the tarp. Stuff everything to the sides while pushing it in. It's definitely a tight fit and much tighter than without the skins but it all goes in there in the end.
