Underquilt width

I'm planning out my Climashield Apex 6.0 underquilt project and I have some concerns about the width of the UQ.

is 39" too narrow?

It depends how wide you are.

39" is pretty narrow. I don't think there are any commercial UQ's that are made that narrow. But like Mucky said depends on your size if it would work.

I made my two 3/4 quilt's 40" wide and they work perfectly. Could actually be a little narrower, since a 3/4 quilt tends to follow your body better than a full length. I'm not sure if a 40" would work for a full length quilt though, but it seems like it might, with the right suspension adjustments.

FWIW the Yeti is about 40" wide at it's widest, and 46" long. That's the smallest commercial quilt on the market I am aware of.

I think 39" could work, just make sure your finished dimensions come out to 39". In my experience I find its best to take into account the loft when figuring out how big to make the shells, so make sure you give yourself a little wiggle room.

Yeah, I was afraid that it might be a little narrow. The problem is the roll is 150 cm (59") wide X however long I want it. So, I was hoping to work in with the natural width ie. use it as the length of the UQ and buy 1 meter (39"), thereby having a UQ 59" x 39". Otherwise I'll have to buy and extra half meter (19") just to get an extra 3-5 inches. And at $32 a meter it seemed a little expensive, but I just might have to go there.

I was having the same problem. Wanted to buy just enough insulation for 1 quilt but ended up getting enough for 2. I figure I'll sell the second one to help cover half the cost of the first one. I imagine a lot of people go through the same thought process.
