Porch mode - am I doing it right?

I hung the tarp, put my sank my trekking poles where I thought they should go, sank the stake at an angle from the poles, then tightly wrapped the guy line around the trekking pole handle a couple times and tightened at the line-loks. Is this right or will it not hold up in weather? I didn't know if there was some knot to attach guy line to trekking pole. Thanks.

You can put your hiking poles straight up and down for more of a view since doing so will lift your tarp up higher.

And if your tarp has D rings or grommets you can flip the pole and put the tip in the ring.

If I dont put the tip in the ring, I always use a clove hitch on the pole rather than just wrapping.

I typically flip the poles around like pgibson suggested, but if I was doing it like you I'd use a marlin spike hitch with the pole being your toggle. It will hold much better and it's a simple knot to tie.

Looks great! All that's missing is the sound of snore,,,, :-)
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.

I also use a clove hitch on the hiking poles. Also, looks like your hammock is a little high. If you lowered your hammock a little closer to the ground, you could see out more. But your set up looks really great! Happy hanging!

So I use shock cord on my loops for a self tensioning system. If I stuck the tips in the tarp loops I couldn't use the shock cord. I switched to clove hitches and I like it much better already.

I lowered both the tarp and hammock and it looks better as well.
