    shock cord trick

I'm hoping ya'll can help me out here - I remember a while back, someone made either a video or a post describing a trick for dealing with the shock cord tieout for the wing on the Blackbird. Specifically, this was a way to quickly release the cord from the bug netting, so you could flip the netting over the hammock. Then, there was a string attached to the shock cord so you could recover it and hook it back up, all from inside the hammock.

Now, I've thought of several ways to do this myself, but I'm really curious what that original method was. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about, and more importantly, do you remember where I saw this??? If I don't figure this out, I'm gonna go crazy!

I remember what you are talking about (you are not going crazy, yet ), but I couldn't find the thread. I think they used a blue plastic clip from Lowes.

Just use a mini-biner and clip it thru the little ring and off you go. flip it over. Tie the string to the shock cord so you don't have to get out of the sweet hammock comfort. Helps to unhook and not be trippin' over it in the day as well.

Were you the one who posted the trick, Shug? I kept thinking it was in one of your videos but couldn't find it.

You could also use one of the tiny little hooks like Brandon uses on the Superfly doors.

No need for any extra gadgets. All you do is undo the shock cord from the ring but leave the cord lock on.

When setting up your BB, just place the cord lock over the string loop on the netting. It will hold just resting there. Next, stake out the shock cord.

When you want to sit in your BB, just flip the cord lock out of the string and lay it with the shock cord on the ground. Get in your BB and you should be able to reach out and grab the shock cord with the cord lock and place it back into the string loop. This is the way I've always used my BB.

Maybe you are thinking of Shug's video. He shows flipping the bug net over and hooking the shockcord to the other side.

Look for ~2:20 on the video:
