ENO double hammock vs china knock off from ebay

    Hi,

I'm a hammock newbie and looking to get into hammocking. Is an ENO hammock really worth spending $100 when you can buy some of the cheap knock offs from ebay for $20? Trying to get some opinions from people who have tried both or recommend any other! I'm looking to buy one that can hold 2 people around 150lbs each.

    Thanks for the help!

    Stephen

Wellllllllllll........ The common response would be the enos are over priced... I would take care to determine the measurements of the eBay hammocks and go as large as you can. I looked at them for a time. A decent choice for hammock experimentation... Expect to need to change out the ropes for for a webbing or whoopies suspension for about 25$.( plenty of info on that here)

Don't plan on sleeping 2 people in a hammock or even laying usually.. Fun for a minute.. Then uncomfortable. However laying widthwise with your feet on the ground like a couch can be comfortable.

I'm sure others will chime in as well.. So I'll save the rest for them

Are there any other brands that you would recommend over eno's. Not really looking to spend more than $100, but will buy something nicer than the ebay one's if it truely would be more comfortable!

    Thanks!

Go with one of the hammocks dutch sells at Dutchwaregear.com. Under $40 and way better than my previous Eno DN.

Agree go with a Hammock from Dutch or a Warbonnet Traveller or any other cottage vendor net less. You can get a nice net less hammock for under $100.

I second the dutch hammock if it will be your primary. I use enos/Yukon's/eBay's for loaners...... Keep in mind with the dutch u will need a suspension... So figure 60ish total after shipping.

Don't fall for the two-person hammock marketing that ENO and some other big box vendors pitch. It is very difficult for two people to lay together in a hammock for more than 15 minutes, well enough sleep. Sounds so cozy and intimate, but you'll be hard-pressed to find more than a handful of people for whom it works.

So if two people in a hammock doesn't work, then you really don't need a 19 oz. ENO doublenest with 400 lb. weight capacity. A Dutch NylonD hammock with Whoopie Hook suspension and tree straps will weigh 14.75 ounces, will have a 285 lb. weight limit, and will cost $76. It's an infinitely better value.

Both Eno and the Amazon Imports ARE imports. We're talking Lemons and Lemons here. Eno is just instant gratification expensive.

    Follow advise already given.

What Dutch would you recommend. Warbonnets are a little more expensive. Also are any dutch good for 2 people for at least a little bit. Not to sleep in for the night but to get cozy with?

    Thanks,

I will purchase a dutch, just need to know what I would need in total.
