    Tree huggers slipping

When I do my initial set up and go for the first sit(aka the test sit) I am always a little cautious. I have used my hammock a handfull of times now, maybe 5, and on at least 2-3 off the occasions my huggers end up sliding down the tree and I end up on the ground, usually in a rapid manor. I have the standard length tree huggers that came with my HH, 42 inches long, and generally I cannot double wrap the straps due to the length. I try to get my ridgeline taunt so when I enter the tension keeps the straps from slipping. Do I need to get longer huggers so I can double wrap to prevent this from happening?

I would think they wouldn't slip with weight in them, but maybe your bark is unusually smooth. You could put a little more tension when you hung it. As an alternative, you could wrap it and then feed one end through the loop at the other end and then attach the hammock to the one loop. I do this to keep it from slipping before I put weight in it.

Stupid me! I thought everyone did it that way. I've never had a tree strap slide down a tree that I recall.

Actually, I will admit that when I used the original Hennessey straps and lashings, I did it as per Hennessey's online video tutorial, so the strap was not run through either loop.
