Yes and yes. Just watch the suspension angle relative to horizontal and keep an eye on the line for wear and she'll be fine.

Right on! Thanks everybody for your suggestions!
Ha-ha! I had to laugh at myself when I read the original post. I weigh about 200 pounds and have been hanging on Dyna Glide whoopies for a few years. My wife is almost exactly the same size as the original poster's wife, and I have her hanging on 7/64 Amsteel whoopies. I know how to keep myself out of trouble! Lol

Ah. Makes sense. I had never seen MBS reported before, and couldn't recalled it was ABS that NER used to report. Just saw the reported value change.
Seems like I've had more trouble finding the info I need since Teufelberger bought NER. I use some of their products tree climbing.
If you've ever wondered how abrasion resistant Dynaglide is, here' a "before and after" photo. Bottom is new, never used. Top is heavily used...been thrown over rough limbs MANY times and used to pull a climbing rope up and over. Middle is the end of the same used line...this has been tied and untied hundreds of times on a throw bag, rammed, jammed, hung up and abused in every way you can in a tree. I can still put all my weight on it when it's hung up in a tree. Good stuff. yesnod.gif

Yeah, so have I. The search feature on the site works well in most cases, although there are some cases where I can't find any reference to the product, like FSE Robline MRX-2. I've considered using this as a non-funky color alternative, but haven't played with it.Originally Posted by gmcttr
I do have some FSE Robline Ocean 3000 2mm line (avg breaking str 900-920 lbs), which I use in my current bridge hammock suspension, and don't have any concerns with. You can find it from Milwaukee Rigging on ebay in various color's, including grey.
I think the FSE stretching process is a bit different than the NER process, and results in the slightly lower strength - potentially (or NER was using convenient rounding in their reported value, like they did with the weight). The process results in a cord with more of an oblong cross section, vs dynaglide which seems to retain a circular cross section.

I have some of this in the 5/64ths http://www.westmarine.com/buy/new-en...ne--P012357679. It is rated to 1,000lbs. I'm only 140lbs, but would I trust it for any of my friends or relatives for any long term hammock suspension usage. We're only hanging hammocks from it, not expecting it to save our lives while falling down a cliff, or pull our cars out of the mud. Depending on your hammock fabric choice it usually is the lowest weight rated part of your set up any way.
Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

I'm 180 and I hung on dynaglide whoopies connected to my Ridgerunner with dynaglide soft shackles all last season with no issues or noticeable wear.
