    Dynaglide whooopie sling suspension?

Question, I am looking to build a new set up for my wife. She is 110lbs. and about 5'2". That being said, will she be safe with Dynaglide whoopie slings for suspension? Also, could I lark's head the whoopie sling (eye spliced end) to the gathered end hammock, then slide the ridgeline over that. Basically omit using a continuous loop. The whoopies would always be attached to the hammock.

    A) There are heavier folks hanging from Dynaglide Whoopies.

    B) That's the way I did it before I went to Whoopie Hooks. Just slide the eye of the ridgeline over the whoopie.

What do you think the max weight would be for that suspension? I'm about 185, would it hold me?

Dynaglide has a minimum breaking strength of 850lbs. With consideration for how the cord is derated by the splices, you have a SF = 4. Up to you if you're ok with that. I am.

If it were me, I wouldn't....but that's just me. 7/64ths Amsteel doesn't weigh much more and is rated at almost twice(1500#) that of Dynaglide.

I'd have no problem hanging from that myself. Would I suspend my spouse from that????

I've used dynaglide leads w/ speed hooks, and I'm 195. Dynaglide's like half the bulk. The weight difference isn't nearly as large. I've since switched to amsteel; rope doesn't weigh much. For someone who's 110? I'd say sure, go for it.

The weight and bulk difference from Dyan to 7/64 amsteel is double. The strength difference is not double though. Dynaglide is rated to 1000 pound test Amsteel is rated at 1600.

I and many others here (I know of one person in the 300 pound range) have been hanging on Dynaglide for a long time. I'm about your same weight (about 180) and as long as you're hanging within recommended 30° angles and reasonable careful then I would not see any reason not to hang off it. Just keep in mind that as a lighter weight rope you will be replacing it more frequently than a higher rated one. I get 1-2 years use on a set of Dynaglide slings with moderate use.

Just as easy, but more secure, run the ridgeline through the larks head and then run the whoopie sling through it's eye. This keeps it in place while packing and unpacking.
