I mostly truck/boat camp, so weight is not an issue for me, but this one is not very heavy. At least not in my value system in trade-off of weight vs guaranteed staying dry. I've gone to a two ring and biner connection between suspension and hammock. Continuous loop on end of the suspension with a ring incorporated in the loop. Same on end of hammock. Connect the two with a biner. Provides a most tortuous path for water to travel to get to your hammock. Shoestrings prussic'd on the hammock rings on each end of the hammock just in case it makes it that far.
Got a chance to try it mid-March in a six-inch overnight downpour. The white noise from the rain: I slept SO good. The water never migrated farther down the suspension than the first ring. It dripped off from there. The biners nor the hammock rings/shoestrings even got a drop. Other than the humidity they were completely dry.
