Just wondering if anyone has tried it with a trekking pole set up, i.e, not tied to trees. Any pics? Wonder if it was easy to do. Thinking of a sandy beach I know where a hammock wouldn't work.

I would certainly work.
See it in the video below at 10:50. Not and Edge but it all works the same.
Carry forth.

I recently got a BearPaw Net Tent to use with my hammock tarps for when I go cycle touring and can't be sure on getting a campsite with trees every night. I set it up with the Edge a couple of days ago in the garden, to see if it works. It did look OK to me, although the cat-cut means that coverage decreases towards the ground. I only had it up an hour or so, so can't say how it performs in bad weather.
Set-up with hiking poles was straight forward, although it can be fiddly if there's wind. But I think with practice it gets easier. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures...
Thank you both! I appreciate your replies. At the top near the tarp, from the tarp D-ring, your line comes out to the pole. Just a simple loop over the pole before going down to the stake, or is there some special thing to do to connect the line to the pole? (Sorry, poles are new for me. Probably overthinking this, Just trying to make sure I don't miss anything.)
:-)
When I set up the Edge with hiking poles, I used a different line to be able to set it up "triangular". Meaning, I loop the middle of the line around the grip of the hiking pole (the tip is in the ground) and then run the lines left and right (probably 4/5 and 7/8 o'clock if the tarp is at 12 o'clock) and hook the tarp into the loop with my Dutch Stingerz. You can also use your ridgeline, loop it around the pole and run it to just one stake, but I was told that the triangular set-up withstands high winds much better.
Thanks hutzelbein! That's the kind of information I was looking for.
Anyone tried these out?

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..
Thanks, folks. Very useful stuff. Appreciate the photos and videos. I'm going to try it out in the park tomorrow. It's supposed to be 16 C (60F) tomorrow. Looks like spring has sprung. Guess we should wrap up this discussion as it will soon get moved for not being hammocky enough :-)
Cjayflo, those fabric cups look cool, but would take all the fun out of messing around with cordage!
