    Best Permanent Suspension

I recently got my hammock set up on my porch and have it temporarily set up with whoopies and marlin spike hitch and I want something that isn't removable... for safety sake. What are some of y'alls set ups for permanent hangs?

    Thanks!

How non-removable do you want it to be? No matter what you use, someone could cut it and walk away with your hammock. One idea, if you want it to be difficult to remove without cutting is to splice both ends of your suspension after running through a channel in the hammock and connecting to your hang point. I've never used whoopie slings yet, but from what I remember, you should still be able to adjust tension with them after splicing ends, right?

What do you mean by non-removable? I don't understand how a non-removable suspension would be safer than a removable one.

replace the toggle in the marlin spike with a climbing rated 'biner
    click the whoopie into that.

    make 3/16 whoopies.

I left a hammock up all year with that setup and had zero issues- except for needing to clean the leaves out in fall, and the occasional bird droppings

Just so the toggle doesn't get loose after getting in and out a number of times and also that the loop doesn't slip off the knot.

I dumped toggles and went to the Dutch whoopie hook suspension - never have to worry about slipping off the knot or toggle.

Sounds like replacing the toggle with a carabiner would be the way to go then.

Any specific knot you would suggest for the tree straps to be tied to the biner?

Just a word of caution. Make sure whatever you attached your hammock to is designed for lateral stresses (most porch supports are design only for vertical stresses, i.e., support to weight of the roof).

I'm pretty sure the supports I got it on will hold up.
