Any specific knot you would suggest for the tree straps to be tied to the biner?

I've never done it myself but the pictures and videos I remember seem to still tie a marlinspike hitch but use the carabiner instead of a toggle. Then you can clip the whoopie into the carabiner. I might poke around and look for a video.
Edit:
Oh, you would want to use a climbing rated carabiner because you are now pulling on it and not just compressing the toggle like you do when looping over the knot.

I use heavy motorcycle tie downs (think dog bones made of seat belt) as huggers and climbing rated biners with locking gates to attach my suspension. It's been in the back year for 2 years and is still going strong after 2 hammocks.
