    continous loop ?

What are the benefits of having a continuous loop through the channel and a whoppie sling attached to the continuous loop versus just doubling the fixed end of the whoppie sling through the channel? My suspension now is the whoopie with out the continuous loop, attached to tree strap and toggle.

You can use a Whoopie Hook and avoid storing a wet suspension with a dry hammock.

You can easily change from a whopie suspension to a strap suspension. Some people like to fiddle with their gear so they change their suspensions depending on weight and bulk consideration or even just mood. Also, if you use a continuous loop and whoopie slings and need to get closer to the tree than the whoopies will allow you can remove the slings and attach the loop directly to the straps.

Another one of those personal preference sort of things. I don't use a loop but I know a few folks that have a loop and whoopie run through the channel. The loop gives an optional closer distance hang then the whoopie for tight spots. I though have never had the need to squeeze in that tight and if I had then I would not have been able to hang my tarp so I would have had to look for another spot any way.

Another thing not mentioned is that you can use the continuous loop with a carabiner and Atlas straps (or whatever). I think it just gives you more options. I had my whoopies looped through the channels and switched to continuous loops just for the added versatility.

If there is a strength difference I would guess it is negligible.

If properly spliced there would not be a difference in strength using the same line.

I just put up a new post on this same subject but I was asking what is the best way to "knot" the continuous loop into the channel?

That's fine and it's the lightest method too.
The continuous loop does two things. One is that it's a water stop where it's connected to the whoopie, presumably by a Dutch whoopie hook or carabiner. The other is a loop allows you to remove the wet whoopie & pack it separately, without un-threading it from the end channel.
