    Continuous RL and Prusik

OK so I bought Zing it for my continuous RL (building 3 units)and wanted to tie a Prusik knot onto it and am now discovering I should have 60% small rope to do it......I only have Zing it for the RL and I have some Dyna Glide for guylines but that's larger diameter.. Will the prusik hold from same material for a tarp?

Sure will. All of my ridge and guy lines are zing it and all of my prusik's are the same. A trick that works for me is making 4 wraps as opposed to 3. I hope this helps.

Ok I will try that ...I did 3 wraps on the prusik and tested the tarp and it slips...will try 4 now, was gonna give up and use the Dynaglide for RL and the Zing it for prusik but prefer not to do that for color and quantity reasons...

A little wear on the RL helps too. Move the tightened prusik back and forth a few times in the area you want it. You can also try the Klemheist friction hitch.

The different size thing is for climbing sized ropes where the Prussic was invented/intended for. As the size of rope increases the difference matters as a 10mm rope can not make the tight turns around another 10mm rope to form a proper grip in the prussic. But the small diameter ropes like we use for RL and such can make those turns and grip with enough wraps to form a good friction grip. Zing it to zing it will work fine with 4 wraps if you dress the knot nice and even and let it break in a little...taking some of the coating off.

I agree. I have had my tarp ridgeline made from Zing It and have been prusics made from Zing It. 4 wraps will help with slippage, but also making sure your knot is wrapped uniformly will help. In other words, make sure none of your wraps overlap one another. This has worked just fine me. However, I've just upgraded my ridgeline to use Dutchware bling!
Two heads are good, three are great, but all heads at hammockforums is the best case scenario!

I just upgraded to this set up & had the same issue for a while. I guess it took some breaking in like others have said but my setup works great now.

I have the same as 12trysomething with zingit on a superfly. Have not had any problem in wind and rain. Just do it. I like the idea of moving the prusics back and forth a few times.
