    Eno Atlas Suspension System

I know that the Eno Atlas Suspension System isn't the most lightweight way to suspend a hammock, but is there any other reason why I shouldn't use it?

I haven't camped yet, but I plan on using the strap system with my Yukon Outfitter hammock that has an integrated bug net.

I have a set. They are very heavy compared to other suspention sand there are less expensive options. However they are super easy to use and they do not stretch. My son has been using them for three years with his skeeter beater and he will be fourteen in two months. Kinda tells you how easy they are to use and adjust. He uses carabiners attached to continuous loops on the hammock. He can set up quicker than I can with tree straps and whoopie slings. So no there is no reason for you not to use them.

No reason at all not to use them. They weigh a little more but not enough to off set their ease of use. I used mine for years before trying different suspension systems.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

No reason not to use them. They'll get the job done. There are lighter, more adjustable suspensions out there for not much more tho

I have an Atlas suspension and I would carry it if it wasn't twice as heavy as my whoopie setup. It's a great system.

I have a set and use them when base camping or just putzing around the yard. Nothing wrong with them except weight when you are hiking.

Weird... I won't ever use them again, NEW UNITS>>>>My brother and I BOTH used them on a trip and mine stretched both nights and I ended up 3" from the ground, his were fine, our last trip out I went with Whoopies and he stayed with the straps, I was of course awesome fast and no issues with the legendary Whoopies however my brother ended up the one this time stretched to the ground with his straps...He is currently switching over to Whoopies. We both range in weight at 185 and 210. To each his own wish you luck.

Two different type of ENO straps: Atlas straps = no stretch, Slap straps = LOTS of stretch

Atlas are made from poly while Slap are made from nylon

I just got my straps. Hung in the cellar for a month of almost constant use. When ever the wife couldn't find me she knew were to look. Just used them outside in the snow and rain for three days. Not a problem. No stretching that I could tell.
Also have two boys who have commandeered my system sometimes and they also love the ease of setup.

Besides weight, there are a couple of things I can think of.

First, the adjustability is incremental whereas whoopie slings or cinch buckles provide a much greater range of fine tuning. Can't say I'd notice an inch difference but there are some that like the ability to make that kind of adjustment.

Secondly, another possible issue is length. If you are in an area with really large trees or you have a less than ideal distance between your trees you may want longer suspension.

If the Atlas straps work for you then that's great.
