If you can learn to tie a Marlin Spike Hitch, Dutchware sells 12' Polyester tree straps for half the money and half the weight. If you already have the Atlas straps, have fun.

I used the Slap Strap Pro(9 feet) system for less than half a summer before switching to whoopies. While your Atlas Straps won't stretch, and are perfectly adjustable, they are short. I occasionally found my 9 foot straps to be too short, and Atlas straps are shorter. Other than that they should serve you well.
I used my atlas straps for a long time with no issues. The whoopies are better & lighter. But the Atlas straps will work well in most conditions.
Can you just place a spike in one of the loops in the atlas straps, in a marlin spike fashion, without tying any knots to hold ones weight? Or do you need the marlin knot in order to bear the weight? I'm just thinking, one wouldn't have to carry carabiners if these were capable of such a feat...
You'd need a strong toggle. In a marlin spike hitch set up the weight of the rope is on the knot so the toggle only needs to be strong enough to resist compression so even a trail stick would work. In your picture more weight will be on the toggle and the force can snap the toggle in half.

They're really heavy, other than that, no reason not to use them. They're what I use on my loner set up. It is all about what works for you. HYOH.
The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.
Does anybody have any thoughts/concerns on the following rig:
(Example shown below doesn't actually have the half hitches yet, ran out of rope for play around purposes.)
