Small piece of titanium foil for windscreen

I have a Fancee Feest stove and an Imusa 10cm Mug I use for my cook kit. I'd love to make a titanium windscreen, but don't want to spend $20 for more foil than I'll ever need. My whole cook kit didn't cost that much!

I'll gladly pay shipping and/or help with the cost of the materials.

That was my first place to shop, but I'd need a piece about 15 inches long and it's sold in 6 inch increments. 3 * 7.5 = $22.50 for a windscreen with LOTS left over....

You might contact Titaniumgoat and see when they expect to have the 22"x6" foil back in stock, but you're not going to save a lot.

You can also pay that much for a finished wind screen and not have any left over.

I know you want some titanium for a screen but can I offer you a alternative. Years ago I remember I believe Jim Woods came up with a wind screen using cloth and some sticks. The screen had slots that the sticks went through (staked to the ground). Could be made from extra cloth you have laying around which means no cost to you. If I can find the old site I will post it up.

I thought this was a clever screen. Sticks can be what is found in the field or bring along some bamboo chop sticks.

Roasting pan aluminum makes a great screen too.

Here is the link I remember... The kite screen. You could make it to your liking.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/60cm-...284858436.html takes a bit longer to arrive, but can't beat the price.
Still getting the hang of it

Or you can buy their 6" x whatever length you need, that size IS in stock.

Or you can buy Ti windscreens from Qiwiz.net for less than $20.

Or you can buy aluminum flashing from a big box store. There isn't much weight savings over Ti for a piece that small.

What size are you looking for?

If you're willing to skip the DIY and purchase one, this looks like a nice deal for $10.95. Probably a few bucks for shipping.

If you want to save weight and money then go with the aluminum flashing Dutch sells. He states on his site that the Titanium weighs 67g per square foot. The Aluminum flashing weighs 36g per 8"x12" piece, so that makes the Aluminum 54g per square foot. The Titanium is nice if you are making a caldera cone where it needs to support weight while under heat, but for just a windscreen aluminum is fine. Aluminum is lighter that Titanium, just not as strong or as resistant to heat.

Another option, make extras and sell them for $6 each.
