Very nice!!! I love the colors (mine is digital camo in the browns)

I like the idea of the panel pulls......how did you do them? I am going to have to make 2 tarps soon and would love to add these.

BTW - very nice work bringing another youngster into to great outdoors!

Fantastic work, Perk! What a great setup. I especially like where you put your tieouts on your tarp up higher. More head room. Fantastic work. Great idea on putting your stuff sack right where you need it. And since it's attached you won't spend 20 minutes looking for it like I often do! lol. And I like how your hammock tieouts still hold out the hammock even when the bug net is unzipped.

Lots of thought and lots of work went into this setup. You'll have plenty of people drooling over this setup and over your talent. I know I am.

I used to just put the pullout loops about halfway up the side wall of the tarp, but I found I was still getting drooping and didn't have the headroom I could have had. So, here's how I figure where to put the pullouts now...

I lay the tarp out on the floor, right side up, and fold it into thirds, then, I fold it into thirds the other way (it doesn't matter whether you start width or lengthwise).

After folding up, you get a square. The four corners are where I mark with a silver sharpie for my pullouts.

I cut 4 squares of leftover silnylon about 2" square, then sew them onto the underside where the dots were marked. These are for reinforcements. I sew a boxstitch pattern. On the outside, I sew a strip of 1/2" gros grain.

I have a line that goes from one pullout to the other, with a fair amount of slack in the line. I attach another line to that one with a loose loop (I use a bowline), which I can attach to my hiking poles, a stick, then down to my stake.

I notice with a larger tarp, there is a tendency towards more sag, which I attribute to the extra weight as well as the size. These pullouts really help keep things tight and airy!

All the best to you with your tarp making!

You can sit beside me. Together we can discuss how to get away from theses enablers!!!

I have made 3 hammocks since early summer and these enablers are making it difficult to stop. My son and I are field testing them this weekend. I hope it doesn't get too cold ..... I haven't started working on the UQ's yet

Sew many ideas and projects .... sew little time.

See if you can zip the sleeping bag around the whole hammock (a la peapod)then slide it over you once inside.
naturally rectangular bags would be more amenable to this than mummys..
