Yep, this is correct. There's no specific placement between the sections, just anywhere in the middle, between the two end caps / leg assemblies.

Old thread, but I'm contemplating getting the Hammeck Stand. I'll also be using with a WBBB XLC and a Superfly Tarp. You know if I'll need the ensign pipe, or is it a good fit without? Also, you still liking it after a year of use? Thanks!

Just got mine in... Fantastic looking stand. Wife has already used it in the Living Room with her Warbonnet XLC while I was out of town and now it is in my 1200sqft man cave where all my DIY is built... I am impressed with it's quality and finish. Well done!
