The distribution centers for the carriers were setup with conveyors that were designed for speed and not gentleness. 2-3 foot drops were built into the system. We just had to design our packaging to survive. Of course, that is a lot easier for a corp with money to burn as opposed to the cottage industries we all love, where margins are likely much tighter.

That said, one possible idea that might work for this item is to slip a rubber washer around the end of each metal piece. That would provide a space between each piece without adding the bulk of bubble wrap. Just quick idea and I'm sure it can be improved on.

My bag came with no damage, but maybe bundle the stand without the bag? That way the shifting metal wouldn't be stressing the bag. You'd have to bundle the metal with strapping or bands of stretch wrap, though.

Ok, I'm done, and apologize for the unasked for advice! Love the stand and all the service Lori has provided.
    Thanks Hobo,
Sorry we weren't able to get back to you sooner. We were thinking some of the same things you suggested for our packaging. We have picked up a matched touch up paint that we will provide. For any one that has purchased a stand that the bag or powder coating is damaged, please contact us on our website.

Curious to know you could potentially use slightly longer poles I. The diy kit to increase the height? Say 6 foot poles instead of 5?

Yes there is no problem with that. The main reason we stated to make all the section 5 ft is because EMT conduit normally comes in 10 or 20 ft lengths

Excellent. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a "physics" reason for the 5foot lengths...

I'm 6'3 and seriously considering the diy kit . just thinking about going with 6 or 7 foot lengths. Also help when winter comes with 3 feet of snow.

    PaPaZeus,
I don't know if you read the thread on the DIY stand, but the height of ridge pole is 68". both myself and David are over 6', 6'.1" and 6'3" and haven't had any trouble with being to close to the ground.

So i took the Meck stand to the 24h mtn bike race this weekend. I rigged it up w/ the Superfly tarp, DIY hammock, and Hammockgear UQ and top quilt. I was slept quite well. Everyone stopped by to check it out. LOVE the stand. Sorry no pic

trying to figure out the best way to get my Hennessy Hex to set up ABOVE the stand, but it keeps slipping to one side or the other. Would prefer to not be under the stand as it is a little too long, and I prefer little sag in my tarp setup.

Are you using shock cord tarp tensioners on your tarp? I find this works with them but I'm not sure how well it will work without. When you tie down the first side pull tight then let off about an inch, that way when you pull the second side tight the tarp should be centered over the top of the ridge pole.

I was more trying to figure out how to get the ends tied out without going to one side or the other...the tarp is too long to use the hooks like my hammock is using, so I have to stake it down.

I take you have a 12 ft ridge line tarp?
