    Question about OMW tarp

I finally had a chance to really work with the OMW I picked up last winter and I noticed that on the interior, there were two tie points on one side but none on the other. I was going to use these to tie the doors to when not using them. Is this normal on the OMW? I tried contacting WL through their web form over the weekend, but so far no response. Really wondering if this is a mistake or normal....

I think they are to tie the hammock off to the side when you are not lying in it so it's out of your way under your tarp.

Out of curiosity I looked on the WL website and it said the following. "A New Feature, pair of loops are added to the inside of the tarp to allow you to pin your hammock to one side leaving room to sit or cook under your tarp". Sounds like a nice feature and Marty is always adding great little additions to his gear that makes it just that much better. Looks like a great tarp

Hmm, I missed that. I can see the usefulness of that. Now I have a reason to make a couple more soft shackles! It seems to be a great tarp and I just need to figure out how I'm going to rig the doors. I'd like to rig the door tieouts so that the same lines that hold them closed can be used to hold them open.

    Hey Hobopelican
McBlaster said it all we added those a couple years back you should be able to throw the doors back on the outside of the tarp and tie to the outside tie outs, one little trick use a piece of shock cord to tie your hammock to one side i say this because the first time i used mine i stumbled under the tarp and the 1st thing i grabbed for was the hammock and almost ripped the pulls off after that i use shock cord and now it just stretches and then goes back no problems

    What Marty said.

I have shock cord tied at each corner of the door. It's long enough to run to the opposite corner, through the D ring (or in my case split ring) and down to the stake. That will hold it closed. Unhook the same shock cord from the stake and now just run it to the outside tie out and back to the peak, and it holds the door open.

Love my Old Man Winter. Several hundred days outside and still going strong.

Here is a shot with the doors tied back to the outside pullouts. In this case I was using paracord, pre shock cord install.

I got it now! Thanks, Marty, for the PM. I was just a little slow.

I think I understand you, RD, but the pic is blocked here at work. I'll check it out when I get home and give it a try.
