Unfortunately I'm not a small guy (yet). I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a hammock system that can hold a 250lb guy like me and something I can feel comfortable in and safe?
Any suggestions are extremely welcome.

The Warbonnet Blackbird/Blackbird XLC 1.7 DL says it will hold up to 400lbs.
You could also look at Dutch's NylonD 1.0 DL. It says it will hold up to 300lbs, or ask if he'll make a 1.4DL if you're more comfortable with that.
I have an Eno Double nest that is very comfortable and I'm 6'1 250. Looking at upgrading as well and have found Dream Hammock and Warbonnet offer systems that will carry our load also.
I am 6'4" 300ish lbs and my go to is a Dream Hammock personally. I am very worried about things failing on me, but the options that Dream Hammock make available for order is awesome with hammocks that reach comfort ratings of upto 500 lbs depending on what you are looking for. Now remember that the larger the weight rating usually the heavier the fabric or a double layer of fabric. At my height I love the 72" width that is also offered at Dream Hammock. I also have the Warbonnet XLC and love it as well, just for my personal opinion I am more comfortable in my Dream Hammock. You are on the heavier side of average, but still within the rating of many of the hammocks available so your choices are more plentiful than mine were.
Good luck finding the perfect hang and let us know when you do and what it is.
I'm 6'5 300 using a Grand Trunk double.

ive slept in a diy 1.9oz ripstop single layer without much issue and im 300lbs. if you want a little more safety factor get a DL 1.0 and itll hold just fine.
I'm 5'11" and 265lbs.
My GT single feels pretty good.
GT Double works
WBBB Dbl 1.7 works
DIY HyperD 1.6 works
Dutch PolyD works
DIY Tablecloth 2.6 works
A whole bunch of Dream Hammocks work, check out the cool chart they have on the website
That's just the tip of the ice berg.
There are many more options, you have nothing but options. Sorry I couldn't narrow it down for ya.

I'm 6' and 260lbs (athletic build of course . I have WBBB XLC DL, the Dutch argon single, and Dutch PolyD. All seem to work just fine. I do get a bit of stretch with the argon though. Even so, it feels solid and I am confident with it.
