Marty also sells a camp chair just like the smaller ones too!

Is there a noticeable difference in comfort? Is there much difference in packed size? Keep us posted on the UQ for it from Marty.

did a quick post with some pics on the sunset model which is the one with the head rest the camp model REI carries is not as high backed

this is the pack size compared to the original
Thanks. Looks like it's about 1/3 longer. I looked at the specs on the REI website, and it lists the camp chair as 19.7 inches long packed. Almost 5 inches longer packed than my Joey. Now that I have the WL UQ & the newer Joey feet for my chair, I think I'll just stick with what I have. The headrest versions do look comfy & they appear to have a higher weight rating.

for fun this might be worth checking out
in this pic you can kinda see a mod I did if you carry trek poles and get a headrest that is actually very comfy I have even had a nap in the chair comfy
one could modify it a bit I am sure and use sticks or something ? was going to get some tent poles to match but when I knew the new chairs were coming out held off
the one leaning in is the one I am talking about
basically I used some large fuel bilge hose for the bottom and drilled holes for the legs of the chair and bottom of our hiking poles I tried PVC and wood and other ideas this worked out best
the main reason was the head rest wants to slide up and the hose material wont slide easily and its flexible unlike PVC drilled out etc...
near the top of the chair is just some simple velcro tape double sided stuff that sticks to itself and the bag makes a perfect width headrest I just kinda spread it out put my head in the pocket part when put around the handles ! since the poles I have are adjustable I can adjust the head rest
you can kinda see the poles on the bottom go to the inside of the leg and near the top they cross to the outside a small bit of tension is created this way and holds the poles a bit more secure
might be something to play with a bit and try out with stuff you carry rafting already ? or try to modify with just some velcro at first to try some sticks that might be around rivers ?
at least to me I love having my head supported when kicking back
image.jpg just for fun! I wish I was camping!

I got the new chair in from REI took it out of the box seat in it for two seconds took pictures and boxed it back up to mail to Marty for he can make his magic warmth UQ.
The chair was comfortable like the others but the 2 seconds that I was in it I did noticed the headrest bar was somewhat hard feeling on my neck. But that can be fixed with either the new UQ coming over the bar or a piece of pipe foam insulation to rest your neck on. Looking forward to next winter camping season!

I heard on the radio going to work yesterday that REI is going to have a 25 year anniversary with 30% off coupon soon.
That will help for those looking for a new camp chair!
Just add WL UQ Boom Done! Warm & Toasty around the fire
