    Kevlar tree straps

I just got my set of kevlar tree straps. They are amazingly light. If I couldn't see them with my own eyes, I wouldn't know I had them in may hand. Anyway, I have a dutch clip on the end of each and speed hooks attached. My only concern is the length of the strap. I ordered the 5 foot strap and although I haven't used them, I am concerned about their length.
Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with these and the length they are using. I am about to order another set for my sons hammock and I am considering going with the longer variety (7 feet).
FWIW, I haven't had any probem with my speed hook and I have used it 20+ times.

That will be one incredibly light set up. Keep an eye of course on that speed hook. However if the hugger doesn't reach around the tree. the lead will take up the slack.

I used to have ten ft. tree straps and 10 ft. whoopie slings, because longer is better, right? Then I realized the trees in the Northeast aren't that big, and now use 4 ft. huggers and 6 ft. whoopie slings. I carry a couple of continuous loops to extend the tree huggers on the odd occasion I find a tree too big.

Just received my kevlar straps and attached the adutchable clips and amsteel speedhook leads. Went with the 8' straps since some of our Live Oaks have a substantial girth. The two 8' straps w/ 8' leads and all the Dutch bling comes in at a whopping 112g. Putting it to a field test this weekend.

WOW again MADD, you don't know how good it feels to impress you with gram savings. I'm just trying to offset the weight gained with the Joey Chair.

I mix and match lengths for a balance of weight and length. Rarely do I find two big trees. If anything, it's often two small or one small and one big tree. So two long straps are just wasted weight. One "short" and one "long" give me plenty of flexibility. Also, with too-long straps, I have to deal with the excess to get it up off the ground.

    And yes, a 5' and a 7' are about what I take.
