Philsweep, hopefully by fall I will be able to hike a longer distance, my desire is to do some section hikes on the AT, maybe by fall I will be in shape to do some of that. For now Oconee to Burrels Ford is the plan.

Bill, Ill contact you closer to fall. Maybe we could do a 3 to 4 day trip with some fishing involved, instead of a thru hike and enjoy the scenery. Always nice to have company.

Sounds like a great trip – wish I lived closer. I’d make two recommendations. First, don’t miss King Creek Falls, a short ½ mile off the main trail. I saw two fly-fishermen, and they had caught several trout in the large pool at the base of the falls in spite of the fact that the falls were flowing gangbusters. Second, explore the option of going the opposite direction. That way, you’re not packing your maximum weight up the hill the first day out of Oconee (but perhaps? your car is less secure).
The countryside and the river are beautiful. Have a wonderful trip.
BillC trying to send you info via PM can not send ,please check your PM and see what the problem is and I will try to get back to you .If you get it working send me a PM so I know.
BillC send me a PM if you would. I may be able to go with you.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
Snaggleroot, thanks for telling me about "King Creek Falls", I think I'd like to see that, also the thought about starting at Burrells Ford and working down to Oconee. That had crossed my mind several times and I think that maybe the better choice for me at this point. I haven't been working-out like I need to these three weeks. Getting my pack weight down tho. Using a ULA Circuit, will pack a WBBB Extra Long hammock, new Yeti UQ (?) ordered yesterday, Brandon thought he could get it to me in time. I have a UGQ 20 degree 7/8 length, like new I'm going to sell, want to cut weight and bulk. Also, taking alcohol stove, wood stove (like a lot of heat) misc. items, tarp, mini cook set, poles, poncho, first aid, etc. etc.; three items of special interest to me anyway, a 14 1/2 oz. folding wood saw (looks like hack saw assembled) cuts like crazy, a meat cleaver (a little heavy-16.9 oz., good for cutting sm. wood stuff). I like to build a good camp fire after hanging. I can cut 5 to 8 inch branches between 4 and 5-6 feet long make a good fire. You can even see to play cards, if you like to do that sort of thing. Oh, almost forgot, Iv'e started dehydrating food to pack. It's amazing how 6 pounds can be reduced to 1 or 2 pounds. Trying to keep my pack weight down, I think I can get it down to 18-20 pounds.
I am thinking of the same trip - to Foothills trail. Anyone know of a good 20-30 mile loop out in that area? I would like to go March-April as well.

I have done that loop a few times, My personal favorite way to do this is starting at Sloan Bridge and going counter-clockwise with the Fork Mountain Trail first. Either way its a great hike.
I can probably help with shuttling if you don't want to leave a vehicle anywhere other than OSP. Who knows, I might even be able to help with a little fishing input as well.
Another trip I had planned for the second week in Nov seems to be falling apart so I may well thru from OSP to TRSP during that time frame.
