On my Cuben tarp, I simply run a 1mm dyneema line that's third to the tarp rings and the other end is a marlin spike hitch around the stake. The simplest & lightest solution.

The only difference with my silnylon tarps is that I put a small loop of shock cord on the tarp rings and tie the dyneema to them. The other end is marlin spiked to the stake that is set to stretch the shock cord, so that it self tensions.
