JRB is supposed to be coming out with UL bridge hammock but I have no ETA.
"...in Florida, she felt air conditioning for the first time, and it was cold and unnatural upon her skin."
After many years of sleeping on the ground with all kinds of pads and a cot when canoe camping, I started with a cheap gathered-end hammock about a year ago just to see if I liked being off the ground. I slept much better so during last winter I tried to learn as much about hammock camping as I could. I decided on the RR and it has been great. I sleep better in it than in my bed. I have used a pad with this year but will be going to an UQ next season.

23 Nights were spent in shelters and one night in Lake of the Clouds Hut. However, blowing up the mattress was never fun! Lol. Leaving the Shelter was a little quicker, but you had to be quiet and work around others still sleeping, which delayed departure time. I always was more rested after sleeping in the Hammock so packing the whole kit wasn’t to bad to deal with. Understand what you are saying though.

"Also I can't begin to explain how pleasant it was to drink hot coffee, eat breakfast, and read in the morning without ever getting out of bed."
please go into more detail on this!!
Well when you’re in the hammock you can reposition yourself and reach down to the ground to set your stuff up. If you’re a true master of laziness, ala shug, you sip coffee from a recliner position.
For me, usually once I got to the point where it was time to eat I’d get my legs out and sit like I was in an easy chair with my top quilt over my shoulders and my butt nice and toasty
Me too. Figure I have to get out to get my food bag.. At that point.. I am up and at em' . If I am spending day at camp, then sure I will lounge around.. But if I am planning on hiking.. Then I have to get going soon
