    2 Sleeping Bags

Anyone have any input in this set up and maybe it's effectiveness?

Sleep inside of 1 mummy bag, an inflatable Pad with empty pockets to add loft, then abother mummy bag under that. The bottom layer could be left zipped for double the insulation or opened up and use the bottom for extra foot coverage.

The only reason Im considering this is because I'm not very weight conscious and I already have the 2 bags and can't bring myself to shell out the cash for an UQ.

When I started I used a square foot mummy bag as a pod and it went pretty well. I was using a pad in the hammock too. Pads are cheap and will work pretty well above freezing.

I still use sleeping bag and pad with my Hennessy classic (BE). Looks like you plan to use a SB to supplement the pad. As long as weight/bulk aren't an issue, a synthetic SB that doesn't compress well (the cheaper ones) should work as additional bottom insulation.

If you're carrying a 2nd sleeping bag, could you just find a way to rig it to the underside of the hammock? Even with some macgyver rigging it should loft more than under your pad

How would you suggest to attach cordage (probably shock cord?) to the sleeping bag without damaging it? Maybe some of those clip-on tarp pull outs?

At worst, I was picturing creating an undersling out of several pieces of bungie cord that simply wrap around the slepeing bag. That will create a few points of compression but overall more loft.

Some bags also have loops used to hang the bag to dry that could be used for attachment points.

I use two mummy bags. I put one leg in one and one in the other. It`s more comfortable and doesn't restrict my legs. It`s easier to get in and out of. Down side is it takes more space and adds weight in my pack. I use these as top quilts. I highly recommend an underquilt if you plan to camp in the cold weather.
