    First underquilt

    Hey folks,

I'm trying to figure out what I should get for my first underquilt. My first thought is the HG Incubator 20 would be the perfect all around quilt. However, what happens if I don't like hammock camping? Or, what if I really like it because then I would need another one for winter camping?

I'm a little leery of a 3/4 one because I don't want to fuss with it too much and would rather not have to bring a sit pad for my feet.

Would an Incubator 40 (or other comparable brand) be a better choice than a 20 at first, then get a winter one later if I get into hammocking like I expect I will?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't be too concerned about getting stuck with an expensive piece of gear you don't use. Slightly used Incubator 20*s seem to sell within an hour or two of being posted for not much less than their full retail price. A good underquilt will help reduce the chance of you not liking hammock camping as well. I use my Incubator 10* right up to the temps I don't need an underquilt at.
