    Poncho as a UQP?

I've got plans to make a poncho / parcho out of some silMembrane from rsbtr for my rain gear. I'm never planning on going out when it's going to storm, but don't want to be afraid of an afternoon shower either. So something super light, compresable, and hopefully multiuse.

Has anyone ever turned something like this into an uqp? My thought was to add small grosgrain loops and reinforcments at a few places up and down either side and then use a little cordage to hang it up and around the sides.

    Thoguths? Pictures? Suggestions?

    Thanks for the feedback.

FLRider will be along shortly. I personally don't like the idea of potentially wet poncho against my dry UQ and hammock, nor do I like the fact silmembrane/silnylon is a vapor barrier.

I had a Lukes Ultralite Pertex poncho customized to do just that as well as act like an overcover when I sleep on the ground. The whole thing weighs 5.6 ounces for a Poncho, Overcover, Pack Cover, and or an Underquilt Protector. It does a great job of blocking the wind as an UQP, its breathable so I'm not concerned with it wetting out my down insulation. For me it adds a few degrees as an overcover or UQP to my insulation. I like the multi function gear as it allows me to carry less, keep my weight down.
