    First DIY Tarp

I'll call it a qualified success. Not the prettiest thing in the world but it looks to be more that functional.

The basic plan was the DIY Gear Supply 11 foot hex tarp with a few tweaks here and there. For the tie out points, I used triangles rather than Ds.

For the assembly, after my cuts, I did the ridge first, then corner reinforcements, then rolled hem all the way around, and finally the tie outs.

I went with Dutch fleas for the ridge lines and the Dutch linelocs with a modified Shane tensioner for the guy outs.

All in all, a great learning experience. I'd definitely do it again. Just not this week... Gives one a great appreciation for what our wonderful cottage vendors do everyday.

    Cheers

Nice work, I have been thinking about DIY but I know once I start it will be hard to stop.

Thanks for the kind words. It's definitely doable for even those of us with novice sewing skills.

If I had one piece of advice, I'd say practice practice practice your flat felled seams for the ridge line. Managing that much sil nylon can be challenging but take your time and use lots of clips to keep the extra rolled up.

That looks great! Very similar to the Hhex, can I ask what your material cost ended up being?
