I know a few people had theirs fracture because it was too cold out. I htink it was the ceramic part that broke. Maybe that could have been part of it? Dunno.

my friends broke but really it was just bent too close to the mettle of the jet and the spark wasn't big enough to light it. Also ofter adjusting at one point it was too far away and it couldn't arc.

I've been using matches, works just fine. The jetboil is a good little stove for weekend trips, a little on the bulky side, but worth the convenience and simplicity...probably go with an alcohol stove for the AT though.

Now that AS fixed my map situation I won't have to sell my gear. That's what I love about this forum so many people willing to share their knowledge and it's done in such a kind way

That was the first thing that happened on my Jetboil. It was an easy fix. Then the end cap cracked. No replacement for that yet. Then criters chewed chuncks out of the lid. Hand to buy a coffee press kit for the lid.
Other than that it's a realy good little stove. Wish that they would sell replacement parts.

Mine broke a long time ago. I use a lighter, figure I am carrying on of those anyways.

I was told by a sales rep and a few others that they ALL break quite soon after purchase (6 months normal use). He suggested that one use matches/lighter until you have to call upon the ignition in a pinch.

    Sounds about right!

Mine broke after one use. I replaced it and it broke again. The guy at REI said that is typical, but it happens more if you put the canister on top when you store it in the cup. This screws up the igniter somehow. But yea, its still a good stove if you just use a lighter.
