Lightbulb 4 sliders on a coil zipper

Sliders back to back or 4 sliders.

Why 4 sliders do you ask?
If you have one continues zipper on a bug-net or Ripstop nylon cover you will be able to open it on each side as you see fit and you will be able to unzip and store it in one of the hammock ends.

I have been looking for instructions but did not find any. Apparently it can be done with relative ease on a teeth zipper but teeth zippers aren’t so flexible and according to some sources not as strong as coil zippers.

I did many tests and finally came up with two solutions.

The easy one of the two is what’s illustrated with the pictures but you can do the same by pulling the coil out on the short end so it acts as the sewing thread.
The key is you have to have something you can pull on in the short end of the zipper.
The sewing thread must be as close to the coil as possible and not too far away from the end.
Another key is the intersection of the zipper must be closed or only open by 1 or 2 coils otherwise you won’t be able to feed it into the narrow end of the zipper slider.
Sealing the zipper ends with heat helps and makes the short end stronger.
Feed the thread into the slot of the slider.
When the short end of the zipper is inside the slider you may have to pull at a small angle to spread the zipper but pull gently.

Be sure to have a few extra inches of zipper in etch end because you may need it if you have to repeat the process.
This was done on a YKK #3 coil zipper.

If only want to use 1 or 2 sliders it’s much easier to feed it through the wide end of the slider but now you know how to do it.

Nice Does not look as difficult on a #5 as I remember it was on a #3 coil the first times I tried it.

    Thanks PapaSmurf!

Now that the secret is lifted I think one can install even more zipper sliders on one coil zipper (as long it makes sense).
