    Harbor freight straps

I bought some 1" straps from Harbor freight. Before I cut the hook of u thought I'd see if they will work.

They have a 500 lb working load and 1500 breaking strength according to the package. I weight about 230 lbs.

I am going to two descending rings connected to the hammock then on the straps for now.

    Are they nylon or polyester?

I've used the yellow straps and the ratchet straps from harbor freight and not ran in to any issues.

I've used the yellow straps from Harbor Freight, but not the ones you've linked to.
The yellow straps worked fine for me. My friend on the other hand forgot to seat the cinch buckle fully on his the other day. When he sat in his hammock, he made the slow descent to the ground. Since the yellow straps are not as firm as standard black poly straps, the strap was torn up. I'm in the process of making him some new straps.

Be sure to tie a half hitch against the descending rings to make sure they don't slip or completely let loose when you sit down (happened to me...ouch).

They work fine, just not as sturdy as some others. I always used a slippery half hitch and they worked great, but I always hated the yellow color.

The Harbor Freight lashing is 1" wide by 12' and is rated at 300 working/1000 break, the 14' rachet is also 1" wide and is rated 400 working/ 1200 break, their 15' ratchet is 1" wide rated at 500 working/ 1500 break. All are said to be polyester. I think the rating is on the cam/ratchet. I've seen other websites selling 1"wide polyester webbing and the lightest stuff seem to be around 3000-5500 break. So, webbing, buckles, sewing and hooks one of those things will break at max weight, I don't think it's the webbing.

Better recheck that. Dutch and Ready Strap has their lightest stuff rated at 1500#, so 1000# for HB straps isn't unreasonable. Either way, they work, just be careful.

I use these http://www.harborfreight.com/set-of-...aps-67386.html, cut the buckle off and use Dutch cinch buckles and a carabiner. Other than being bright yellow, they work great for me.
